Dr. Julien’s laboratory focuses on the molecular characterization of immune cell surface receptors and host-pathogens interactions.
The atomic blueprints uncovered by X-ray crystallography and cryoEM studies guide vaccine design seeking to elicit long-lasting antibody-mediated immunity against pathogens, including Plasmodium falciparum malaria and HIV. In collaboration with academic and industry partners, Dr. Julien’s laboratory also develops new antibody-mediated immuno-modulatory approaches against tumor and autoimmune targets using structure-based principles.
